White Water Rafting

22km raft ride along the Isere River from Bourg St Maurice to Aime.

Experience the excitement of this world class stretch of river, venue once again for the kayak world championships in 2012. Originating above the ski resort of Val d’Isere, the river Isere offers an exciting variety of whitewater with something for everyone. The first 10 km down to the Gothard Lake is an ideal run for the children’s trips and further on are the notorious Aime rapids, the spectacular Virgin’s Gorge finishing in the Centron rapids.

Trip Options Available:

Long Isere: Start at Bourg St Maurice finish at franceraft base at Centron, 22 km, around 2 hrs 30 navigation (minimum age 13).
Short Isere: Start at the bridge at Bellentre down to Centron 14 km, around 1 hr 30 navigation (minimum age 13).

Children’s / Taster Trip: Start at Bourg St Maurice, finish at Gothard Lake, 10 km around 1hr navigation (minimum age 9).

Trip Information:

On arrival at their base, the franceraft guides will give you your equipment, then departure by bus to the start of your trip. After a safety briefing on land, the rafts set off down river finishing at the base at Centron.
Transport:
Franceraft provide transport from the base to the start of all the white water trips.
Instruction :
Franceraft hold French national diploma + additional rafting qualifications.
Equipment:
Self-bailing rafts with foot straps for 8 paddlers + 1 raft guide.

Equipment provided:
Safety helmet and life jacket (conforming to EU requirements) full wetsuit & jacket, neoprene socks, (equipment disinfected after each trip) paddle.
Equipment to bring:
Swimsuit & towel, sports shoes which get wet during the descent.
Terms & Conditions:
Participants must be able to swim 25 metres and submerge (swimming attestation form to be signed before departure)
Participants must be in good physical condition
Minimum ages must be adhered to.
Important information:
Franceraft reserves the right to modify its operations for security reasons. Trips are run in all weather conditions (the equipment provided is adequate protection) and the company have access to information regarding the hydro electric dam releases).
