How to get to Chalet Hotel Melezes
Flying
There are numerous options for flights from UK airports with budget airlines along with scheduled and charter flights. The nearest airport is Chambery (approx 2 hours drive), but there is a much greater selection of flights to Geneva and Lyon (both approx 2 hours 45 minutes drive). There are also budget options with Ryanair who fly to Grenoble (approx 2 hours drive). Several airlines fly from the UK to Geneva International on a regular basis. We recommend trying the following companies:
Transfers
We can arrange transfers in our minibus on certain days of the week and these are inclusive in some of our offers. Our transfers are not tailor made to suit individual flights as you may not be our only inbound or outbound passengers on your particular day of travel. If you are our only passengers on the day we will try to coincide our transfer times with your flights. In any case we endeavour to keep waiting times for our guests to an absolute minimum, but it can sometimes be unavoidable.We would recommend only using our transfers if you are completely relaxed about waiting. If, before or after an airport transfer you do have time on your hands you could use the time to visit Geneva, which is very easy to get to from the airport and also has a very good left luggage facility.
Our Inclusive Geneva Transfers
- We will run two dedicated mini buses per day between Geneva airport and Chalet Hotel Les Melezes, Tignes Les Boisses.
- Each bus can carry up to 8 passengers
- Journey time is usually 2 ½ - 3 hours.
- Transfers usually run at set times:
- Incoming – leaving Geneva in the evening, usually around 19:30 or later.
- Return – leaving resort around 16:00 to serve flights after 20:30 or the following morning.
- Always check transfer timings before booking flights.
Driving:
For those who are unable to fit with our timings and prefer not to use the transfer service you could always hire a car from Geneva Airport. Our experience has proved that the cheapest way to do this is through www.holidayautos.com . A small car for three days will cost around £70.
Trains
The nearest station is Bourg St Maurice, the end of the line. Journey to Les Boisses takes about 20 minutes by road. It is possible to travel via Eurostar to Lille or Paris and then catch an overnight sleeper or TGV to Bourg St Maurice. French Motor-rail operates from Paris with overnight sleeper carriages if you'd like to take your car without driving all the way.Flights Don’t Fit With Transfers?
Why not stay near the airport for the night and fly home first thing in the morning?The Budget Options:
- Formule 1 Geneva Airport - From just 33 € per room (can sleep up to 3 people in a double bed with single bunk above) this very basic budget hotel is a 12 minute drive from the airport. A taxi will cost around 15 €. It may be possible for our mini bus to do a drop off there en route if time permits.
- Hotel Stars Geneva Airport - From 41 € per room (based on two people sharing) this budget hotel is a few minutes drive from the airport. A taxi will cost around 12 €. It may be possible for our mini bus to drop off en route if time permits.
A Little More Luxury:
- Hotel Ibis Geneva Airport - From £55 weekend/£69 mid week per room this comfortable hotel has a shuttle bus that runs to and from the hotel between the hours of 05:30 – 23:00.
